The Young Progressive Party (YPP) successfully held its State Congress and Gubernatorial Primaries in Adamawa State on Saturday, marking an important milestone in the party's journey. The event was well-attended and featured the inauguration of a new state executive committee, which will lead the party's initiatives over the next four years.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected State Chairman expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve and reaffirmed a strong commitment to enhancing the party’s impact and ensuring success in the upcoming general elections.
The day also included transparent primaries for various positions, highlighting the party’s dedication to fair democratic processes. Interested members actively participated, and a credible voting and counting procedure was implemented. The results confirmed the party's candidates for the upcoming elections:
- Suleiman Raji Mohammed for Adamawa Central Senatorial District
- Ahmed Usman Belel for Adamawa North Senatorial District
- Rt. Hon. Pharm. Wafarninyi Theman Dalatu as the Gubernatorial Candidate for the 2027 general elections
During the event, Hon. Pharm. Wafarninyi Theman Dalatu, speaking on behalf of all selected candidates, expressed gratitude to the party leadership and members for their trust. He outlined a vision focused on addressing poverty in the state, which includes key objectives such as:
- Allocating 60% of opportunities to youth in his administration
- Ensuring 30% of opportunities for women
- Committing to lift 3 million people out of poverty
- Establishing a structured social security program for older citizens
Additionally, the congress celebrated the inclusion of defectors from various political parties into the Young Progressive Party (YPP), further solidifying the party's foundation and expanding its reach within the state. This gathering not only reinforced the party's unity but also exemplified its commitment to progressive governance and positive change for the people of Adamawa State.
